The Mansions of Pechersk

Pechersk has got its name from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (the Caves). The “Pechersk-City” started owing to Peter the Great, who has founded the old fortress here on the caves, as well as the residence of the Kiev governor. The empress Elizabeth proceeded with it, having built the Tsar's Palace. Mulberry-linden gardens of Lavra in the 18-19th centuries were once and for all replaced by the mansions of Kiev elite. Among them - famous house of the weeping widow, chocolate and Arabic houses, the House with chimeras.
